Located in one of Houston’s most iconic silo buildings, the complex at Sawyer Yards is home to SITE Gallery Houston, an alternative art space housed inside of the 34 rice silos at The Silos at Sawyer Yards. This unique venue presents site-specific contemporary artworks that are produced through the interaction of artist concepts and the industrial, architectural context of the Silos building. Increasingly, audiences can enjoy interdisciplinary performances that merge movement, music, and installation and its unique acoustic environment.

INSIDER TIP

The image above shows a snapshot of ŌME, presented at SITE Gallery in 2019. Artists Daniela Riojas and Leandre Douglas examined the dual Mestizaje and African American experience in a performance that expressed historical encounters between Indigenous and African peoples, their pre-Columbian connections, and the subsequent impacts of Iberian colonialism. To experience dynamic performances like ŌME, keep up with our calendar of events.
