Registration now open for the 4th annual Fresh Arts Summit!

August 19-20, 2022 at Silver Street Studios

First launched in 2019, the Fresh Arts Summit is an annual conference for regional visual and performing artists of all disciplines who seek to advance their entrepreneurial skills, expand their peer network, and tap into local resources. More importantly, the Summit serves as a valuable knowledge-sharing opportunity which to-date has positioned more than 75 local artists of all backgrounds as presenters and topic experts and has become an important community-building weekend for artists to stay informed and connected.

Our 2022 Summit theme is Building Community. In our “post-COVID” world, we found ourselves in a situation where we have to relearn how to connect IRL after being online for so long. What is community? Which communities do individuals gravitate towards? How are communities built? Join us for the 4th annual Fresh Arts Summit to explore these questions while identifying and deepening what community means to you.

Join us August 19-20, 2022 at Silver Street Studios for the 4th annual Fresh Arts Summit as we present a two-day series of artist panels, round table discussions, presentations and peer-to-peer learning opportunities focused on Building Community across creative communities.

Topics will include supporting artists and collaborations, fundraising and funding models, connecting and supporting communities, and more. Sessions will be led by organizational partners and field experts including practicing artists and other creative leaders working in the Houston arts community.

The Summit is ideal for emerging to established artists, makers, and creatives of all disciplines who seek to expand their peer network and tap into local resources.

2021 FRESH ARTS SUMMIT RECAP

The third annual Fresh Arts Summit was held June 4 – 5, 2021 where we presented over 10 hours of virtual presentations, tutorials and live panel discussions featuring two dozen artist presenters and speakers from Greater Houston, Galveston and Austin.

Fresh Arts recognizes that the arts landscape has fundamentally shifted since the pandemic began, and that despite challenges the Houston arts community always finds ways to adapt. Thus, the 2021 Summit theme was Next Directions, where local artists, experts, and leaders shared their experiences and adapted practices from the past year to inspire the arts community with new avenues of artistic and professional exploration. Session topics included mental health, finances, community building, virtual engagement and career planning.

Fresh Arts would like to recognize the awesome members of the 2021 Summit Planning Committee: Shannon Crider, Justin Garcia, Deborah DEEP Mouton, Jamie Robertson, and Y. E. Torres.
