Hear from the artists and explore

Learn about the former rural agricultural community in what is now Arts District Houston, the District’s natural boundaries at the White Oak and Buffalo Bayous, and how the Gulf Coast and the world’s coral reefs inspired public art in our neighborhood.

Self-Guided Tour

Hear from artists, Janavi Folmsbee, Patty Barrera, Jessica Guerra, Jessica Rice and Falon Mihalic, on how they generated vibrant imagery from their environmental research. Following the map from mural to mural on a self-guided bike tour provides a hyperlocal context for their work, offering an opportunity to reconsider the natural landscape one may have overlooked in the bustling city. The map includes B-cycle locations where you can pick up a bike and come learn more about the art up close.

What are you waiting for? We invite you to grab a bike and a map, and explore public art and the District’s natural boundaries – White Oak Bayou to the north and Buffalo Bayou to the south
