This mural takes inspiration from Houston’s native plants and the important role the bayous have played in the city’s history. Sanctuary celebrates nature and documents the beauty of our community. It strives to inspire a culture of conservation that allows us to live our lives in harmony with nature — to grow freely, resiliently, and beautifully just like flowers do. With this work, the artist emphasizes that nature is a vital link through which we connect to each other, with the world, and the universe at large. This mural reminds us that nature is the sanctuary in our lives which invites us to pursue the extraordinary in the communities that we create.
