This mural focuses on the Buffalo Bayou and Glenwood Cemetery. The scene in the mural is bookended by two great egrets, birds native to the bayou that represent stillness and tranquility, and, for the artist, “how this calm is necessary to recognize opportunity.” About the mural, Jade Young says, “I think this is a perfect symbol for Buffalo Bayou and its place in Houston’s history. From the very beginning of our city, Buffalo Bayou has been a place of industry and growth, though you wouldn’t know it walking along it’s peaceful paths. So much history has passed through the bayou’s waters that, now gone like a dream, has created the foundations of our city.”
