Gisele Parra is wildly obsessed with photography, and since graduating with a BFA in Photography/Digital Media from the University of Houston, she’s developed a thriving career as a multi-talented photographer in Houston. These days Gisele finds herself photographing artists within Arts District Houston quite frequently — she has captured many of the portraits you see in this series of District Insider’s Guides. While balancing both fine art and commercial photography practices, Gisele captures the most intimate and precious moments in the lives of her subjects and is perpetually refining her skill. No matter the subject or theme, Gisele works with a passion for telling stories through the images she creates.

INSIDER TIP

“I drive by the entrance to Glenwood Cemetery all the time and one day I turned in to check it out. I had no idea that this historic and stunningly beautiful place was behind the gate. I love that you can see headstones from the late 1800s to present day, what the bayou bend looks like in a more natural setting, the view of the downtown skyline, and the general sense of peace there even though it is right in the center of the city.”
