This video originally played live at the Virtual Fresh Arts Summit 2020 as Introduction to Digital Collaborations: A Panel on Collaborative Projects & Community Building in a Digital World.

Virtual readings, digital exhibitions, craft talks on Zoom, etc. Artists and creatives are organizing new ways to present art online. These efforts, just like any other project, often require teams and collaborations to execute well. This panel features a diverse lineup of artists/organizers who have pulled off creative projects online and can discuss best practices and stories in reaching out to and working with collaborators to put together a great digital arts experience.

Featuring Houston-based artist Claire Drennan, Josh Inocencio, Matt Manalo, and Shayna Schlosberg.

About the Presenters

Shayna Schlosberg

Shayna Schlosberg is a producer and community organizer. She is currently the Managing Director of The Catastrophic Theatre. She is a proud member of Women of Color in the Arts, a steering committee member of the Houston Alliance of Latinx Arts, and a 2020 New Leaders Council Fellow. Ms. Schlosberg served in the Peace Corps in Armenia from 2010-2012.

Matt Manalo

Matt Manalo is an artist and community organizer. He was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and has called Houston, Texas home since 2004. He received his BFA in Painting at the University of Houston. He runs a community-based alternative art space called the Alief Art House and founded Filipinx Artists of Houston.

Josh Inocéncio

Josh Inocéncio is a Houston-based writer and theatre artist. Currently, he’s writing his first novel, milk bread. An excerpt of it appeared at the Houston Cinema Arts Festival in 2019.

Claire Drennan

Claire Drennan es una artista de la fibra que trabaja en la artesanía contemporánea. Originaria de East Tennessee, Claire ha establecido su hogar creativo en el East End de Houston desde 2014. Claire descubrió su amor por las artes de la fibra mientras vivía en Chile y luego estudió Diseño de Moda en el Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Claire implementa la sostenibilidad en su práctica de estudio desde el abastecimiento hasta la producción y hace uso de materiales encontrados, reciclados y sostenibles. El trabajo de Claire se ha mostrado en Lawndale Art Center, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft y AMOA.
